Now Offering Virtual Trunk Shows and Classes!

Trunk Show

Inspiration

My program is called "Inspiration". I have 20 large quilts to show. Most are bed sized. I share how I got the idea to make each one; along with the strategies I use throughout my process to stay organized, get things finished, and have fun while doing it. I share why I made the design decisions that I made. I hope to help you see the world around you with fresh eyes, and get inspired by so much more than just other quilts. I love hearing from those who have seen my program; that I inspired them and made them feel like they could do it!

Reviews

Candace Hassen's presentation was superb! She presented  to about 30 guild participants using Zoom to show her work.   As an  intermediate level quilter it was fun to learn an easy technique that I  can now turn into a variety of looks! Candace's trunk show was very  engaging as she gave our group plenty of time to see her work and ask  questions.  I am looking forward to turning my scraps and strips into  beautiful quilts!

Sonja's Windows

All of these lovely quilts are made using the Sonja's Windows block. This is an excellent beginner class, because this technique is so easy and forgiving. I will teach this strip pieced technique which makes 4 blocks at a time. We will also discuss strategies, for gathering strip sets, settings for these blocks, and different approaches to arranging color.

A Maze Zing

This quilt started out as a variation on a jelly roll race. It will give participants practice on measuring and attaching borders. You can use it to make a very contemporary quilt quickly, but also works well with traditional fabrics classic look.

Trip Around the World

Strip piecing an classic favorite, plus some fun ways to vary the design.

This skill is a must for every serious quilter's tool kit!

This works best as a 6 hour class.

Let's Polka

This is a wonderful class for beginners. it is a beginner sampler that does not scream "I am a beginner sampler!" This quilt uses very simple blocks, such as half  and quarter square triangles  to make a beautiful contemporary design. We will discuss different ways of laying out these blocks and fun ways to make them more unique, with the use of color placement, and stripes or other directional prints. Works best as a 6 hour class.

Audry

This class teaches the "Stack-n-Whack" technique, along with alternative ways of using the resulting blocks. We will learn to add other design elements by piecing some of the triangles. Works best as a 6 hour class.

Indian Summer

This class involves a horizontal strip piecing method to form diamond motifs. Intermediate. Works best as a 6 hour class.

Flip and Sew Tableware

This is a similar strip piecing technique to the one used to make the Indian Summer quilt,  But in this class it is used as a "flip and sew" technique to make small items quickly that can be used as a charity or personal gift.  This works better as a 6 hour class.

Native Harvest

Pineapple Storm

We will use strip piecing to make this beautiful quilt. This class works better as a 6 hour class.

Pineapple Storm

Pineapple Storm

The Pineapple block is a really good block to teach those that are new to paper piecing, because the seams are parallel and there are less weird angles. We will also discuss working from a drawing, and organizing strategies.

Design Decisions and Drafting

Design Decisions and Drafting

Design Decisions and Drafting

In this class I will show how to change the size of quilt blocks. We will discuss various types of design decisions, including layout, scale, types of fabric, graph paper vs. computer designing, to name just a few. Participants are encouraged to bring projects from home so we can solve their design questions as a group.
